About Us
The Irish Charitable Society of Chicago is 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. It was founded with two purposes in mind, to help others and to celebrate traditional Irish culture.
For the cultural arm of the organization, each year the Society puts together a free Irish festival called The Session. The Session has live Irish music and dance from Ireland as well as other cultural events. For the charitable arm of the organization, the Society raises money for one charity each year. All the money raised during the year is given to help support that charity's benevolent causes.
In 2008 The Session will take place from March 12 to March 14 at the Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago. There will be live Irish music from Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones, The Prodigals, Gan Bua, and many other great Irish bands. In addition, there will be Irish dancing, storytelling and many fun activities for children.
This year the Society will be raising money for Old St. Patrick's Church in Chicago. Money will be raised through year-round fund raising efforts; including The Society's Annual Raffle. The Annual Raffle, which will be held on March 14, 2008 at the Session, has many great prizes, including a get-away package to Ireland that includes Two Round Trip Tickets to Ireland, One Week Car Rental and One Week of Accommodations.
